The Bright Stars of Jazz aim to recreate good-time driving jazz in the style of Eddie Condon, Louis Armstrong, Wild Bill Davison and their colleagues of the 1930's-50's. They combine this with other styles from New Orleans to mainstream, and some original compositions.
Established in 1999 this young band has been performing frequently at jazz festivals, clubs and concert venues including the South Bank. The Bright Stars also provide music for corporate events in London and beyond, as well as parties, riverboats and weddings. The band tours regularly throughout the UK and western Europe.
'Bridging the Gap', a Bright Stars album on Lake Records, was rated in 2002 by Jazz Review magazine in the top 25 jazz albums recorded that year. An earlier recording entitled 'Parish Business' sold 1000 copies. This summer the Bright Stars have recorded an album for George Buck's GHB Records which will be released later this year.
Whether you require entertainment at an event, background music or music for dancing, the Bright Stars are guaranteed to give you and your guests a party to remember. The Bright Stars have been featured at the following events:
